• PURPOSE OF THIS ASSIGNMENT:

This assignment provides learners with the understanding of each step of a research project from identifying and framing a research question, developing a theoretical framework, designing a measurement instrument to collect data as well as analyzing and drawing conclusions from the data collected.

In-line with the university’s aspiration to produce holistic graduates, elements of collaboration (C), adaptation to market demands and changes (A), reflection on knowledge gained (R) and entrepreneurship (E) are embedded in this project.

Learning Objectives

  1. Enable learners to develop analytical skills as well as translate a management problem into a feasible research question.
  2. Formulate hypothesis based on a strong foundation of the particular theoretical/conceptual framework.
  3. Enable the learners about data gathering process and data analysis techniques to test their hypothesis.
  4. Enable learners to learn about how best to present their findings in report form.

BUSINESS RESEARCH GROUP REGISTRATION FORM

This research project is the on-going project for the Project Paper. When learners enrol in GSTM7806 Project Paper the following semester, the group member must remain the same.

Chapters 1, 2, and 3 of Research Methodology will be supervised by Research Methodology’s lecturer. The learners will continue Research Write Up Chapters 4 and 5 in the next semester, having completed Research Write Up Chapters 1, 2, and 3 including pilot study in the Research Methodology class.

Chapters 1 through 5 of the Project Paper will be supervised by the lecturer for the section you chose. When enrolling in the Project Paper for the following semester, learners must remain in the same group. This is due to the fact that Research Methodology assignments are the ongoing research project required for completing the GSTM7806 project paper.

Please be informed that at the end of submission of project paper in the following semester, the learners need to prepare the 15 pages summary of the project paper for journal publication. Therefore, the authors names in the paper should include 1) Project paper Supervisor’s name, 2) Research Methodology Supervisor’s name, 3) Three Learners’ name and 4) BRS examiner’s name.

  • This is a GROUP task. Your assignment is to form a group of THREE (3) persons. ONLY the group leader is required to complete and submit the Business Research Group Registration form in the CourseNetworking (CN).
  • The group leader is responsible for completing the Excel Sheet for the Business Research Seminar (1) in order for the Project Paper Course Leader to arrange the list of examiners for BRS1.

  • Peer evaluation is an effective collaborative learning strategy that ask learners to reflect on contribution meet by other learners in the group work. These kinds of assessments are common in academic and research settings. Knowing that the learners’ efforts will be assessed by peers can motivate group members to perform at their best. Learners are compulsory to submit to the supervisor the peer evaluation form. If conflicts emerge within the group, peer evaluations might provide objective evidence to address these difficulties.

INITIAL RESEARCH PROPOSAL PRESENTATION (10%) (C.A.RE) – Presentation Skills, Communicating Research Ideas, Assimilation with Technology

  • This is group assessment. Learners are required to prepare the initial research proposal that determine the research area to investigate, find the gap in the literature, make the purpose statement, formulate research questions, research objectives, research hypotheses as well as research design and procedures.
  • The research proposal can be adopted either quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods approaches.

Note:

  • Problem statement and gap identification (sources published within 2019-2023).
  • Literature review (including conceptual framework for either quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods study).
  • Proposed research design (including reason for chosen methodology, sampling strategy, and instruments to be used).

All learners are required to submit their assignment on time via CourseNetworking to gain carry marks for the course. Marks will be accumulated to 10% of the total coursework marks for the semester and will be the group task.
